Musée d’Orsay Group Sightseeing Tours & Lunch Event
A brief history: Construction of the Orsay station and hotel was completed in July 1900 by architect Victor Laloux. The station was no longer used from 1939, and the hotel was closed in 1973. In 1973, the Minister of Culture, Jacques Duhamel, concerned by the disappearance of iron-constructed architecture, proposed the preservation of the site.
In 1977 the decision was made to transform the former train station into a museum. The magnificent transformation, completed and opened to the public in 1986, became one of Paris’ most beautiful and famous museums.
The Museum’s restaurant is located in the original dining room of the hotel. It offers the splendor of a nineteenth century decor, complete with restored frescoes.
